A meridian woman faces manslaughter after causing fatal car accident in Boise. Meridian Police reported that a 73-year-old woman was killed in a four-vehicle car crash. The Meridian woman rear-ended the 73-year-old which then caused two other vehicles to crash into them. There was no indication of traffic slowing down before the collision, according to police. The woman died at the scene of the accident. The Meridian woman was transported to a hospital for injury evaluation. It was reported that her injuries were not life-threatening. She now is facing manslaughter charges for causing the car accident. The family of the victim may be able to file a wrongful death case.
To be charged with vehicular manslaughter the case must prove two things:
- The driver’s actions caused the death or fatality.
- The driver was being reckless or grossly negligent.
Being reckless or negligent poses a more severe threat of death than driving careless or simple negligence.
