Troopers said only minor injuries were reported by those involved in the crash.

Who is at Fault for a Multiple Vehicle Semi-Truck Accident?

When multiple vehicles are involved in a car accident or semi-truck accident, it can sometimes be difficult to determine who was at fault. Usually, an investigation will need to take place in order to reconstruct events which occurred before the collision. Those who may conduct an investigation of an auto accident include the police, insurance companies, and personal injury attorneys.

During an investigation, an analysis of all factors that lead up to the accident will be taken into account. Where the drivers operating their vehicles correctly? Was anyone speeding, following too closely, or ran a red light? A driver can be found responsible for an accident if they were driving their car in any reckless manner.

Next, an investigator will look to determine if any drivers were distracted. Was a driver texting, talking, or using a cell phone in any other manner that would have kept them from paying attention to the road? Investigators will also determine if any drivers were under the influence of any drugs.

Other things an investigator will look for is any mechanical failures. Did the semi-truck driver fall asleep as a result of working long hours? Was weather or road conditions a factor that could have caused the accident? Was there a cause for a sudden emergency?

Determining fault for a multiple vehicle accident is important so a party will be held accountable for damages.
